If you’re looking to grow on social media, chances are you found this blog post searching for how to get more subscribers on youtube in 2022.
Gaining a large following on social media opens a window of opportunities that otherwise didn’t exist for you, which is why learning how to get more subscribers on YouTube is valuable information.
No matter if you’re a new YouTuber or a long-time struggling content creator, I’m going to give you the crucial steps you have to take to gain more subscribers on your channel.
All of the following tips for gaining more subscribers are based on my experience growing my YouTube channels.
I have three YouTube channels that I post videos to regularly and I’m also a freelance YouTube marketing consultant on UpWork.com.
I’ve experienced the ups and downs of growing my YouTube channels with over six years of experience on the platform.
Today, I’m going to fill you in on what you need to know to grow your YouTube following.
How To Get More Subscribers On Youtube
Pick A Niche And Stick With It
Having a niche is one of the primary things that you need in order to grow on YouTube.
As I mentioned in my previous post teaching you how to make money on YouTube, you should choose a niche that revolves around your passion.
For example, I have a channel named HeHeels where I share my passion for fashion. Not only this, but the sub-niche is focused on “heels for men”.
Having a sub-niche can help you grow faster because there’ll be less competition.
Creating videos around topics that I wouldn’t mind talking about for hours has helped me remain consistent during periods of distress.
There’s nothing better than being able to turn the camera on, make great content, and reap the benefits of sharing what you love to do the most!
If you struggle to find a niche when starting your YouTube channel, don’t worry.
Start growing your subscriber count by paying attention to what’s trending on social media and making videos around those topics.
The best way to see results with this method is to find something on social media(like Tik Tok) that sparks an emotion within you. This is one of the fastest ways to grow on YouTube.
For example, a lot of YouTubers were making videos about why quitting their 9-5 job was the best thing to ever happen to them.
If you were to make a video about “why I don’t dream of labor” when the trend was popular, you’d have a strong chance of getting more subscribers from that single video.
Because of the relatable topic, more people will be willing to subscribe to your content if you give value.
If you’re not interested in being in front of the camera, read my post on how to make money on youtube without making videos!
I grew my first channel to fifteen-thousand subscribers by making videos about pop-culture topics.
Before I got my first thousand subscribers on YouTube I was making random content just to develop my video uploading skillset(editing, filming, content strategy, mindset, consistency training).
It’s important to not get caught up in creating the “perfect video” because this slows down your progress.
The most successful YouTubers decide what video they want to create and waste no time creating the content.
In other words, action-takers are money-makers.
Get On An Uploading Schedule
One of the most effective ways to start getting more subscribers on YouTube is to post videos on a schedule.
Now I’ll admit, I’m not the best at sticking with schedules because I prefer a more intuitive approach to daily tasks.
I recommend creating a schedule for when you’ll make YouTube videos if you find yourself delaying content.
When starting my YouTube channel I made a commitment to post videos on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
This schedule helped me get accustomed to creating consistent content which ultimately lead to a steady increase in my subscribers over time.
Not only does creating consistent content for your channel help with entertaining and building brand trust with your audience, but it also helps with your YouTube algorithm relationship.
YouTube favors creators who post more because it means that your channel has a large earning potential(which means more money for them as well).
As long as you’re creating content that people enjoy watching, replicate that content and maintain a consistent posting regimen.
If you want to know how to get one-thousand subscribers on YouTube in a week, understand the importance of posting every day (even multiple times if you’re creative enough).
Fast growth is tough to get, but with the emergence of YouTube shorts…it’s not impossible.
Beware that gaining one-thousand organic subscribers is nearly impossible without a certified strategy.
Invest In Your Education
Most people don’t have an issue with paying thousands of dollars to college institutions for the hope of one day getting a decent job, but are the first to hesitate when it comes to investing in skills outside of the classroom.
The issue with this mentality is that college institutions were created to help you advance in the workforce, not to build wealth as a YouTuber.
Because being a YouTuber is still a mysterious business model to the average person, you’ll need to be willing to invest in your knowledge about the platform from experienced creators in the field.
The best part about YouTube is that you can learn how to grow on the platform by watching videos by other content creators.
Take time out of your everyday routine to study how popular content creators edit their videos.
Study the pace, material, thumbnails, and overall marketing of their videos to get an idea for the kind of content you may want to create for your channel.
YouTube isn’t a one size fits all kind of business model, but if you have an understanding of how the algorithm works you can grow your subscriber base astronomically.
Don’t forget to be your authentic self on YouTube because that’s what gets subscribers more than anything else.
I also advise you to examine your reactions to video thumbnails are you scroll through YouTube.
If something moves you enough to click a video and even subscribe, take note of why you took that action and how you can replicate it to attract your own audience.
Upload Shorts!
YouTube introduced the “shorts” feature not too long ago and it’s been making creators go viral on the platform.
Shorts are similar to tik toks because they’re quick videos that give you short bursts of entertainment or education about a topic.
Shorts are great for gaining more subscribers on YouTube because they don’t require a ton of time and editing to create.
Like Tik Tok, shorts tend to gain traction quickly and spread like wildfire once more people take notice of your video.
To upload your first viral short video, think of a scenario that many people can relate to(taking your driver’s test for example). Post this video to TikTok and use any desired effects/music, then upload the video to YouTube.
You may find more success using trending audio from YouTube. Even reacting to viral shorts can increase your chances of getting more views.
I recommend uploading your short video to TikTok first because it allows it to get seen by more people.
Oftentimes, people will search for a TikTok on YouTube, so you can’t go wrong by sharing your video on as many platforms as possible.
Collaborate
Collaborating is a certified way to get more YouTube subscribers because you’re putting yourself in front of a similar creator’s audience.
As easy as this may sound, collaborating can be difficult if you aren’t in the same city as the person you want to collab with.
I would suggest reaching out to the YouTuber you want to collaborate with and finding out if they are interested in making a video with you.
To make the process easier, prepare the video topic and how you’ll collaborate before reaching out so you seem more professional.
Being prepared helps with persuading people to collaborate with you because it takes the guesswork out of how you’ll work with the other creator.
I know that if someone wanted to collaborate with me, I’d want them to already have an idea for what we’d talk about and how’d we’d execute the video if they’re far away.
To find potential collaborators, search YouTube for topics within your niche and shoot your shot in the comment section of the creator’s videos or find contact information on their channel profile.
I’d suggest sticking with channels that have a similar subscriber count to increase your chance of getting a response.
Use TubeBuddy
TubeBuddy has been critical in my YouTube growth because it’s a tool that gives me insight on trending keywords and what other creators are using in their video descriptions to get views.
They have a free version but I recommend upgrading to PRO so you can skyrocket your channel growth faster.
I personally use the “Legend” version of TubeBuddy.
The Legend version of TubeBuddy allows me to schedule, manage, optimize, and organize my video content with ease.
In case you haven’t heard of TubeBuddy, it’s a chrome extension that gives you tools YouTube doesn’t provide.
You can think of TubeBuddy like a “cheat code” to get more views and subscribers because it gives you a leg up on the competition when it comes to ranking your videos in search.

A Word About Buying Subscribers
You should never buy subscribers because this can get your account banned by YouTube.
Some people want to buy 1,000 subscribers for $5 but these are bots who won’t actually engage with your content.
Even if you were to buy 2 million subscribers for your YouTube channel, this would backfire because you won’t have an audience to watch your Ads(your subscribers are fake), therefore you won’t make any money from your channel(keep your 9-5 bro).
Instead of buying subscribers, you should consider investing in YouTube video AD placement.
Paying for your videos to be placed in front of people when watching YouTube is a great way to accelerate your subscriber base and start seeing results with your channel sooner.
In A Nutshell
Growing on YouTube takes patience and consistent effort to master the algorithm.
If you really want to grow your subscriber count and see results, having a certified growth strategy is 100% essential to the longevity of your channel.
